Building Progress 1: Main Structure

     This week we built the main structure of our seaperch. First, we cut five of 12-inch long PVC pipes into several parts, which is shown in Figure 1 below.

 The details of hese pipes are shown below:
  • Two pieces – 2 1/2” (6.4 cm) long
  • Two pieces – 4” (10.2 cm) long
  • Two pieces – 4 1/2” (11.4 cm) long
  • Four pieces – 1 1/2” (3.8 cm) long
  • Four pieces – 5” or (12.7 cm) long
  • Four pieces – ¾” –set aside for use in the next step
  In addition to these pipes, we also used 10 Elbows and 4 T's pipes to construct the main structure. And, we made several small holes on the six of Elbow pipes, which contributes to the entering of the water into the main structure. Figure 2 and Figure 3 below show the front and the side views of the main structure of our seaperch.

     In the next week, we are going to add other stuffs on the main structure of the seaperch which is listed in the weekly plan in the Project Overview.
